Peace and quiet, comfortable bed, breakfast was good, and had an overall relaxing weekend.

There is no lift, and the route to our room was like a maze. Not good for someone recovering from a broken leg!

The food was excellent, room very clean and well kept and the staff excellent. Very good location for Grasmere

The room had very little light for the price we were paying

It was very well located just 5 minutes walk to the city making it very accessible in and out. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The windows rattled everytime the wind blows. Having said that, it was rather windy the few days we were there.

High level of comfort with attentive staff and elegant food and wine. It is in a beautiful part of the country where it rains a lot.

It rained a lot. The Hotel lost the booking and were not expecting us.

    Superb

This hotel is at the quieter end of Grasmere overlooked by the fells. There is lots of free parking space for guests. The River Rothay runs right beside it and there is a large garden although this has to some extent been flattened by the recent renovation work and will take some time to recover. A recent addition to the hotel is the Spa which is spacious and welcoming and free - wonderfully relaxing after a days fell walking. Our rooms were large and tastefully decorated and had a balcony each, one which overlooked the garden and one the river. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

There was some quite noisy work going on during the first day - a covered walkway to the Spa was being constructed. I had hoped the Bistro Menu would have been a little more down to earth as I had two teenagers with me. We ate out on the second and third evenings and I was glad I had opted for bed and breakfast only.

From arrival at reception to departure the staff were very attentive.

The Rydal bedroom bed was rather hard and the vegetarian breakfast lacked imagination and taste.

The location is perfect for hiking the fells or just walking around Grasmere, also handy to Ambleside if you need to shop. The hotel is old, but has been completely redone. Everything is up to date in terms of style and luxury. Great menu and food was very good. We paid 109£ for a B&B double room and 120£ for dinner which included a 45£ bot of wine. All worth the price.

The wine list advertised a Washington wine, but were out of it when we tried to order.

we stayed 2 nights in an exremely comfortable room with all the facilities we required- the hotel was smart, clean and well abover the standard which we'd expected from a very late booking at the lower end of the room range. Frankly we lucked into the pleasure of this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to use it again. We didn't dine in the hotel but the breakfast choice was extremely good and well prepared-particularly after specifying runny eggs.

We had a room with a balcony which looked over the fells and was so beautiful. Staff very helpful and friendly. Although work being carried out on restaurant felt it did not impact on our stay. Loved it and will be back in the summer.

The setting and location was spectacular. We stayed in one of the lofts which, aside from having low ceilings on the sides of the bedroom (be careful when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet!) was roomy and the shower was massive. Very comfortable room, although we tended to spend most of the time outside exploring the mountains and lakes. Dinner was nice, but not great... probably expected a little more given the reviews and price... although we had been dining in 5-star French hotels, so our expectations were rather high! All-in-all a great place to stay, great service and rooms, and a perfect location to explore the amazing Lake District.

No stairs in the hotel, which makes it tough if you're staying on the 3rd floor - although I'm hoping older guests would be afforded a hand with their luggage.

    Superb

Friendly staff, great breakfast choice, superb room furnishings, everywhere spotlessly cleaned, big fluffy white towels, nice toiletries, lovely choice of complimentary drinks in room including nice biscuits, best ever hot chocolate. Recommended hotel, and just a 3 minute walk to centre of pretty Grasmere and some lovely walks.
